MAXXIS - DISSECTOR GEN 2 29"
The Maxxis Dissector returns with a host of upgrades that improve performance across the board. Most notably, the side knobs have been completely redesigned with a larger footprint and reworked sipes, boosting stability and predictability in corners—especially on hard terrain. The new shape resists deflection under load, increasing both durability and control. Side knob engagement is also quicker, giving riders a more confident, planted feel in turns. The center tread retains the familiar 2-3-2 layout, but the center “3” has been split into individual knobs for improved braking traction and better terrain conformity. Transition knobs have been pushed outward, creating a smoother, more consistent feel as the tire leans over. Like the side knobs, the center tread also benefits from revised sipes for enhanced grip and longevity. These updates make the Dissector an even more versatile option for short- to mid-travel trail bikes. It excels as a front tire on bikes with 130–140mm of travel, especially when paired with a fast-rolling rear like the Forekaster or Rekon. On longer travel bikes (150mm+), it serves as a fast, confident rear tire in dry conditions.
Best for:
- Dry, hardpacked, rocky, or rooty terrain
Recommended setups:
- 130mm travel: Dissector front / Forekaster or Rekon rear
- 140mm travel: Dissector front / Dissector rear
- 150+mm travel: Minion or Assegai front / Dissector rear
Casing options:
- EXO: Light-duty trail use or weight-conscious riders
- EXO+: Aggressive trail riding
- DoubleDown: Enduro and e-bike use
Rubber compounds:
- MaxxTerra: Prioritize speed and efficiency in dry conditions
- MaxxGrip: Maximum traction and control when grip matters most
